Moved hosting away from #godaddy #sucks

This blog has moved away from GoDaddy hosting to bluehost. I don’t know how good bluehost is (so far it’s been OK) but I know for sure that GoDaddy is pretty darn awful.

Awful as in
  • So slow that it’s a nightmare to be editing posts online. I had to do them offline and then copy-paste (and reformat), what a waste of time.
  • So fragile that my pingdom monitor reports it unavailable for more than 5 minutes at least twice a day.
  • So unresponsive that I’m sometimes ashamed to share permalinks to my blog in fear it would be offline. Why did I even pay them?

I didn’t wait for the one year I paid up front to end, just packed my stuff and moved over to bluehost. I don’t know how good bluehost is, but at least it’s fun again to be editing online and my pingdom monitor hasn’t told me anything bad yet, so knock on wood, looking good so far.

  3. I dealt with both companies. From my experience, I went from bad to worse when I switched from Godaddy to Bluehost. Hope it goes better for you.

  4. Their control panel is crap besides all the things said here. I don’t have a Godaddy account but was ask to help a friend set up a website with a CMS. I through up my hands and said sorry man you are on your own.

Leave Godaddy Drop Godaddy, Curse Godaddy

  8. Man.. I liked Godaddy at first. Then this week, my outlook on them has changed a lot! First of all the costumer service “rude and bitchy”

My websites have been on & off all week! they said it would clear up in a day! NOPE still have server problems..

I will be switching over to hostgator.. eff godaddy they can shove it!

  10. Godaddy is the worst service I’ve ever seen. FREE SERVICES HAVE BETTER SUPPORT! I canceled my website service and it didn’t even ask for a confirmation, they just went in and deleted everything. When I called in to ask them WTF they said it’d cost 150$ to restore, they’re f**king scam artists and if you’re stupid enough to purchase their services you deserve to be taken for every dollar you have.

I’ve been a loyal godaddy customer for three years and at the drop of a hat they basically told me to go f**k myself.

They’ll hold your website hostage if they happen to get hacked or you accidentally do something you’re not supposed to on their confusing piece of sh#t website. They won’t even send you an email confirmation when it comes to deleting your entire website, BE WARNED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. I paid $350 for Godaddy to design a website and they have been charging me a hundred dollars per month for hosting a site which has not yet been built nor published; even after I request that they cease charging my credit card.

I have not provided the content for them to build the site; but how can they start charging me for hosting a site that has not been built nor published. I could understand if they tried to confiscate my $350 that I paid to build the site; but how could they justify stealing my hundred dollars PER MONTH for a fictional hosting of just a domain?

Has anyone else had this experience? Let’s start a class action case…
